Very nice app! It has made biking so much more fun when I can try out new streets every time and find nearby bicycle-friendly roads.. Sometimes my phone jams while it's capturing data, and I have to take the battery out to recover. So I keep it off when I'm not using it (since it starts up fast enough anyway) and use the the "GPS Data Logger" widget for recording instead, which saves in the same format and also has a "pause" option (and has not crashed yet). As for the features, it would be nice if the user could ask Maep to refresh the map tiles? If it can't be done without redownloading everything, perhaps "refresh view" could be an option.. Also, predownloading tiles for a certain area as discussed in CaCO3's comment would be a real nice thing to have. Thanks again! [Rate: 9/10]

This is a fantastic little app that is very simple, but just what one needs when one wants coordinates and a very good variety of map data. [Rate: 9/10]

Maep is one of the greatest apps for my N900! I now found some ways to get OpenStreetMaps for offline usage: JTileDownloader is a java tool and should run on any OS. It can download the tiles (map pieces) for you. Go to www.openstreetmaps.org and browse to the location you want to have offline available. Then copy the perma link in the right bottom corner. You can insert this link in JTileDownloader and it will extract the coordinates from it. For me this does not always work in version 0.4.0, I had to restart it first. Then you chose which zoom levels you want (try it out in the browser) and click on start. It then creates the same folder structure as maep uses. Just copy those folder onto your maemo device (N900) into the folder .maps. Alternatively, under linux, I have the atlas tool Marble. Use it do zoom to all locations you want. It stores its tiles under .marble/data/maps/earth/openstreetmap/ in your home directory. You can also copy those folders directly to your maemo device. There are also more complicated ways like downloading the vector data files from http://downloads.cloudmade.com/ You will then need a tool like Kosmos (http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Kosmos) to generate the bitmap tiles. Simple as it gets and works fine. It is the fastest map application out there for N900 - a must have. I could be optimized a little more though. [Rate: 9/10]
